Site Recommendation: Tales from the Rusty Dragon

If you were a Dragon or Dungeon subscriber back when they were physical magazines, you’ve probably already heard of the Pathfinder Adventure Paths. Fantastic, huge, softbound books put out regularly by Paizo publishing, this blogger considers them to be the pinnacle of 3rd edition adventuring. They’ve got well-written stories, well-crafted encounters, and I never fail to be impressed by their production quality.

Paizo has gone on to take the Pathfinder series into its own 3E-variant rules system, a bold move I think is just fantastic. I’m looking forward to checking out the Pathfinder RPG when it drops later this month.

That said, I’m pretty well addicted to 4E at this point. I don’t see myself using another system for D&D any time soon. That’s why I absolutely love today’s site recommendation, The Rusty Dragon. Named after an Inn in the very first Pathfinder series released by Paizo, it’s a comprehensive attempt to convert the Rise of the Runelords adventure path to the newest version of the D&D rules.

Author Scott Betts has just released the most up-to-date versions of the already completed adventures, Burnt Offerings (levels 1-4) and Skinsaw Murders (levels 4-8). DMs will need the actual Pathfinder books to successfully run the adventures, but you can get a great sense of Betts’ design ability by flipping through the newest pdfs.

If you’re unfamiliar with the project, go check it out today!
